Biodun Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti, has described Adebisi Egbeyemi, the late former deputy governor of the state, as a man of honour.

Egbeyemi, aged 79, was said to have died on Friday.

In a statement on Saturday, Oyebanji while expressing his condolences to the family, said the late deputy governor was a statesman of repute, a respected community leader, and a great lover of his people, who made significant contributions to the development of the state.

He described Egbeyemi as a distinguished leader who served Ekiti meritoriously in different capacities and continued to contribute to the development and stability of the state out of office until his death.

The governor, however, urged Egbeyemi’s family members and associates to be consoled by the fact that the late former deputy governor ended his journey on a glorious note.

“Baba ran a good race, served our dear state with his time, talent and resources and etched his name in gold as a man of honour, excellent team player and a seasoned administrator. We shall miss his amiable personality and wise counsel,”  Oyebanji was quoted as saying in a statement by Yinka Oyebode, his special adviser on media.

“On behalf of my wife, the government and the good people of Ekiti state, I commiserate with the children and immediate family members of our dear leader and former deputy governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, on the passing.

“While we thank God for the life of impact he lived, we know that he shall be sorely missed. Our prayer is that God Almighty will grant him eternal rest and comfort the family.”
