Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, has condoled with Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, over the flood that sacked Maiduguri, capital of the state.

The governor described the situation as a period of agony for the state and victims of the flood.

The flood had displaced many residents in the Fori, Galtimari, Gwange, and Bulabulin areas of Maiduguri.

Thirty people have been reported dead from the flood at the time of reporting.

The flood followed the collapse of the Alau dam, which has been at full capacity for the past few weeks.

In a statement by Kayode Akinmade, his special adviser on media and strategy, Abiodun noted that the flood has spawned a humanitarian crisis, adding that the situation requires urgent support from well meaning Nigerians.

“While natural disasters of that nature were inevitable, the prompt response like that of the government of Borno and the federal government would go a long way to ameliorate the situation and bring about immediate relief for the people,” he said.
