At the time when kings go out to battle, David was in bed at home, sleeping! And it was not bad for him to be in bed, sleeping, but it is just that he was doing it at the wrong time. And this led him to commit an error of sleeping with another man’s wife, snatching same woman from her husband and killing the husband, Uriah, one of his finest men. This made the sword never to depart from his house (2Samuel 12:10)!
David would have avoided falling into that ugly and horrid pit, on the condition that he had simply done the right thing at the right time. What was the right thing for him to do? He was supposed to go out to battle, not be in bed, sleeping at home!
Now, the word king is not used for men alone, it is used for both men and women. In other words, on the condition that you are born again, the Bible says that the Lord has redeemed and made you as a king and priest—and you shall reign on earth, “Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth (Rev. 5:9-10).” As in the day of David, we are in the prophetic-time—when kings (believers) are not allowed to be sleeping and napping—when they are supposed to be in different fields of ministry, partnering with God—extending the frontiers of the kingdom and church in the midst of the earth.
This is the implication of sleeping and napping, when you are supposed to be partnering with God in different fields of purpose, impacting on lives, you are going to fall into the pit that can be avoided when you are busy for and with God. David would not have seen Bathsheba bathing, if he were to be on the front-line, battling as a king.

Many young-folks have entered into many avoidable errors and committed many avoidable mistakes, on the condition that they were not caught inactive when they were supposed to be acting for and with God. Staying at home, when David was supposed to be serving God as a king led him into a secret sin, but he was punished publicly for it, “For you did this secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun (2 Samuel 12: 11).”
Once again, if you are born-again and a believer, you have been redeemed and made a king (either you are a man or woman) and this is the time that kings go out to battle, this is not the time to do what has no eternal value. This is not the time to engage in fruitless-activities that will affect your future husband, wife and children. The error committed by David ended up affecting his wives and children!
As I begin to coast home in this piece, the same woman (Bathsheba) that caused David to fall ended up—not being attractive to David again–in his dying days. In fact, when they needed someone to keep David warm, Bathsheba’s name was not mentioned at all (1Kings 1: 1-4). I guess Bathsheba’s shape had disappeared with time!

Even when Bathsheba went into the king’s chamber, nothing turned David’s head again like it did in the days of old, “So Bathsheba went into the chamber of the king, now the king was very old and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king. And Bathsheba bowed and did homage to the king. Then the king said, what is your wish? (1 Kings1: 15-16).” This should let you know that no one is beautiful and handsome enough to cause you to commit a generational blunder, because with the passage of time, either a woman or man who is sexually attractive to you today will not be sexually attractive to you tomorrow.
If you have been sleeping as a king (either you are a man or woman), wake up and “go out to battle” before you see a woman/man taking a bath. Occupying for Jesus is what is going to help you to avoid committing generational blunders that will impact negatively on your future/current husband, wife and children. May you be wise and heed this prophetic warning!
