Funny enough, I set out to write this piece in anger but as I type out the title, I just started laughing. Why I am laughing I really can not tell because the situation is far from what should elicit the idiotic laughter that is cascading through my body.

Within the last few days, Nigerians nay South Westerners seem to have put their hopes on a near literate person with coarse tribal marks who have grown in courage and had give an ultimatum to the marauders to leave his domain or face consequences. 

The Inspector General of Police reacted expectedly and asked that his head be brought to him on a platter. The task fell on the very new and sweetly beautiful Commissioner of Police as her first assignment. As at the time of writing, I do not think she has scored a pass mark on the matter and the near literate man has gotten his mansion burnt down with his freedom still intact.

When I first posted a small quip with the above as title on what’s app, I was angry. I was angry at the seeming collective stupidity of Nigerians who rather than face the main issue which is the funny leadership at the centre and at all levels , we started ethnicising the situation. The kidnapping, murder, banditry and all that were caused by the Fulanis. The Fulanis were the ones that left Futa Jallon to come and be raping our mothers. The cry against the Fulanis have gone so high that you cannot open the pages of the Newspapers or look through Social Media without seeing the tribe Fulanis being muddied or blamed for everything, simply because our helms man is Fulani and has made idleness in power a wonderful stock in trade.

We are mired with cowardice, selfishness, jealousy and plain avarice hence our penchant to huddle like Lilliputians and be talking to and blaming  ourselves in hush tones when the ogre is standing just Infront of us and chewing our future and spitting it out. 

Instead of us to find strength in a collective resolve, we prefer to start naming the midgets that we think is the problem. Today it is the Fulani, yesterday it was Boko Haram who are peopled by Chadians, next tomorrow it will be the Igbo who are kidnapping our children and using them for money rituals and by month end it will be the Yoruba hoodlums. I am tired of the stupidity.

Everybody is calling for a separation like the problems will be solved automatically once we allow the Ibibio people to go and start copulating with Cameroonians without visa. We truly do believe that Ebonyi will suddenly become Singapore once Nnamdi Kanu gets what he wants, or that Oduduwa state will emerge the new Financial Capital of the world.

You see why I am laughing. We really do have the Leaders we deserve. We are truly a country of chipmunks and so deserve all that is happening.

The largest Police Force in Africa, the largest Army in the Black world, the biggest economy in Africa, the most populous country in Africa and it is a near Illiterate from the slums of Oyo that is now providing purposeful leadership along tribal lines?
