More groups and organisations have thrown their weights behind the second term of Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom state.
Abak 5, elders of a formidable political union in Akwa Ibom north west senatorial district, have publicly announced their support for Emmanuel as the sole candidate for the gubernatorial election in 2019.
They also used the opportunity to applaud Onofiok Luke, speaker of the state house of assembly, for effectively discharging his duties in the state legislature.
Other groups like the Akwa Ibom Christian Assembly and the Nigerian Workers Community (NWC), Akwa Ibom state chapter have also publicly announced their support for Emmanuel.
The elders commended Emmanuel’s “selfless and determined” efforts to fight for peaceful coexistence in the state, saying his fight for peace and development led to the economic and infrastructural developments currently enjoyed in the state.
The elders in a resolution by Okon Obot, chairman, board of trustees, Soni Udom, chairman, Uduak Essien, secretary and S. Oyomette also condemned the crisis which rocked the state legislature.
