The Abakaliki FC bus involved in accident along Benin-Ore expressway
The bus carrying officials of Abakaliki FC, runners-up in this year’s President Federation Cup, was involved in an accident on Sunday during their return journey to Ebonyi state.
The club, still reeling from their dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout loss to Kwara United in Saturday’s President Federation Cup final in Lagos, confirmed the incident in a statement shared via their Facebook page.
The statement disclosed that the bus was involved in a minor accident along the Benin-Ore expressway.
The accident was said to have occurred when the bus suffered brake failure and collided with a moving truck near Ondo.

Pictures posted by the club also showed minor damages to the affected bus.
The incident comes a month after 21 Kano athletes died on their way home from the National Sports Festival in Ogun state.
Abakaliki, bottom of Group B in this season’s NNL, defeated the likes of Enyimba enroute the Federation Cup final, their first appearance in the country’s foremost domestic cup competition.
