Enyinnaya Abaribe, senate minority leader, and Uche Secondus, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have led a protest to the US embassy and the UK high commission in Abuja over the federal government’s alleged disregard for the rule of law.

They called for the review of the supreme court judgment sacking Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state.

The demonstration was in continuation of the protest the PDP started two weeks ago, when it marched on the apex court.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra, Abaribe and Secondus had led the protest.

On Friday, Secondus asked the international community to prevail on the Nigerian government to respect the rule of law particularly concerning the judiciary and the national assembly.

The PDP national chairman also expressed support for Abaribe who had called for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari over insecurity in the country.

“On behalf of the PDP and the poor masses, there is a need for the international community to come to the assistance of our dear country,” he said.

“Nigeria is a member of the comity of nations. Nigeria is not an island. The content of our letter is for the international community to advise our government to obey the rule of law, particularly as it relates to the national assembly and the judiciary.”
