Abati to deliver keynote address as Rotary District 9112 holds public image seminar

Reuben Abati, former presidential spokesperson and Arise News anchor, will deliver the keynote address at the Rotary International District 9112 public image seminar.

The event, billed to hold at the Rotary Centre in Ikeja GRA, Lagos on August 26, is aimed at equipping Rotarians with tools to strengthen organisational visibility and credibility in Nigeria.

A statement on Thursday by Victor Ojelabi, secretary of District 9112 public image committee, said Abati will speak on ‘Strategic media engagements to advance Rotary’s mission in Nigeria’.

According to Ojelabi, Nkechi Ali-Balogun, chairperson and CEO of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN), will be the special guest of honour, while Ibim Semenitari, past assistant governor and Rotary public image coordinator in Africa, will deliver a goodwill message.

Lanre Adedoyin, district governor of Rotary International District 9112 and chief host of the seminar, said public image remains a vital tool for expanding Rotary’s reach by telling stories of impact and showcasing members as people of action.

“Public image is one way that we expand our reach in Rotary; telling our stories as people of action and showcasing our impact,” Adedoyin said.

Ehi Braimah, chair of the District 9112 public image committee, said the seminar goes beyond branding to focus on storytelling and credibility.

According to him, a strong Rotary image strengthens service projects and inspires greater trust from the public.

“This seminar is not just about logos or slogans. It is about equipping Rotarians with the right tools to tell our story with clarity, credibility, and impact,” he said.

Other speakers include John Senaya, who will elucidate on ‘telling our story, growing our impact’; Achime Arinze, who will discuss ‘why every Rotary Club should own a website’; Joy Obinyan on ‘what is a great brand?’ and Oromena Osugo on ‘using social media to amplify Rotary stories’.

The event will feature a lineup of media and communications experts, including Sam Omatseye of The Nation, Joseph Adeyeye of Punch; Sam Ayetutu, chair of the Lagos state Public Relations Council; Gbenga Adefaye of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Tony Onyima, Martins Oloja, Mumini Alao, and CNN award-winning journalist Shola Oshunkeye.
