Abba Yusuf
Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, says he will release N5 billion to pay retirees’ gratuities in the state.
Yusuf said the funds will clear part of the N48 billion backlog allegedly left by his Abdullahi Ganduje, his predecessor.
In a statement on Sunday, Yusuf, through his special adviser on information, Ibrahim Adam, said the N5 billion payment to retired civil servants brings his total backlog clearance to N27 billion.
“The initiative is part of his broader commitment to address long-standing financial obligations and reposition Kano state as a model of responsible governance,” the statement reads.

“The settlement of these outstanding gratuities and death benefits not only alleviates the hardship faced by affected families but also reaffirms our administration’s promise to restore trust in government and uphold social justice.”
Yusuf had earlier released N6 billion to settle the gratuity arrears.
