The Kaduna government says it has appointed Abbas Balarabe to lead a 65-man transition committee ahead of the swearing-in of Uba Sani, governor-elect, on May 29.

Balarabe, who is the secretary to the state government also headed the transition committee of the state in 2015 and served as the vice-chairman of the committee in 2019.

Muyiwa Adekeye, special adviser to the governor on media and communication, announced the constitution of the committee in a statement on Tuesday.

Adekeye said Nuhu Isyaku, the permanent secretary of the cabinet and political affairs, will serve as the secretary.

Sani, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 730,002 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Isa Ashiru, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who scored 719,196 votes.

“The Transition Committee will be chaired by Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the incumbent Secretary to the State Government, who was chairman of the Transition Committee in 2015 and vice-chairman in 2019,” NAN quoted Adekeye as saying.

“Nuhu Isyaku Buzun, the permanent secretary, cabinet, and political affairs, will serve as secretary to the committee, which will soon be inaugurated.

Muyiwa Adekeye further said, “the transition committee will also arrange the ceremonies to usher in the new government”.
