Abdulaziz Yar’Adua: I haven’t left APC — not every Yar’Adua is associated with me

Abdulaziz Yar'Adua

Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, senator representing Katsina central, says he remains a bonafide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement on Sunday, the senator described claims of his departure from the ruling party as “speculative and mischievous”.

“I wish to categorically reaffirm my unwavering commitment and support for the All Progressives Congress,” he said.

“I urge the press to disregard any speculative headlines suggesting my defection from the party.”

Yar’Adua said not everyone bearing the family name shares political ties with him.

“It’s important to clarify that not all persons who bear the Yar’Adua name are politically associated with me,” he said.

The lawmaker accused some media outlets of deliberately sowing confusion by linking unrelated individuals to him.

“As chairman of the Senate Committee on Army and the Northern Senators Forum, I remain committed to working with the Senate leadership to push legislative reforms that support the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

He praised Tinubu’s administration for increasing funds to subnational governments and investing in key sectors such as agriculture, road infrastructure, and security recruitment.

“We have witnessed concerted efforts by the president in the past two years to increase allocations to states and local governments, invest in critical infrastructure, and strengthen the security architecture,” he said.

“As political leaders, we must rally behind the president to ensure his reforms yield real benefits for the ordinary Nigerian.”
