Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, governor of Kwara, and Mohammed Marwa, chair of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), are expected to unveil two books on drug abuse in Ilorin this week. 

The books were written by Muhammed Ibrahim, Kwara state commander of the NDLEA.

The unveiling is scheduled for Tuesday, February  6, 2024, at the Banquet Hall, opposite Government House, Ilorin.

The two books titled: ‘Drug Slaves’ and ‘Look Before You Leap’ are also written in Hausa and Yoruba languages.

According to a statement from the organisers, Umar Bago, governor of Niger, Usman Ododo, governor of Kogi, as well as members of the national and state houses of assembly, are expected to attend the event.

Yusuf Sagaya would be the chairman of the occasion. Other dignitaries expected to grace the event are Michael Imoudu, director general, National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS); Issa Aremu who would be the keynote speaker; and Yusuf Ali who would be the guest speaker.

A troupe from the department of the Performing Arts, University of Ilorin, will stage one of the books.

“The books were written in continuation of the gamut of efforts to wage war against drug and substance abuse in the society,” the statement added.
