Abia APC group: We won’t admit Otti into our party — those planning to bring him are daydreaming

Alex Otti, Abia governor

A group loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia has vowed not to welcome Alex Otti, governor of the state, into the party.

The group, Abia Best Interest Association (A.B.I.A.), urged President Bola Tinubu to ignore Otti and pledged to unseat the Labour Party-led government in the 2027 elections.

Eze Chikamnayo, convener of the group, spoke at a press conference in Abuja on Monday.

Chikamnayo alleged that the Abia state government had spent over N54 billion on 51 public school projects between the first and fourth quarters of 2024 without providing any evidence of completed work.

He commended Tinubu for declining Otti’s invitation to commission projects in the state last week, describing it as “a wise decision”.

“We will not welcome Alex Otti with his excess baggage into the APC,” Chikamnayo said.

“Abia APC has competent men who can align with President Tinubu to restore good governance in the state.”

The group also asked Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in 2023, to call Otti to order rather than criticising other governments.

“He should stop talking about Indonesia or China and start talking about Abia state,” Chikamnayo said.

He accused Otti’s government of creating hardship for residents of the state.

“The reality in Abia today is that Abians are yearning for liberation. That liberation will come in 2027,” he said.

Chikamnayo also dismissed speculations that Otti might join the APC, warning that any attempt to integrate the governor into the party would be resisted.

“Anyone planning to bring Otti into the APC is daydreaming,” he said.
