Shedrack Asiegbu of Abia Warriors has won the sixth edition of the VAT Wonder Goal award.

In what is the tightest race so far, Asiegbu fought off stiff challenge from the league’s top scorer, Stephen Odey of MFM, and Musa Newman of Akwa United to emerge winner of the Match Day 25 edition.

A total of 731 fans voted on the website of the Nigeria Football Federation while another 361 voted on Twitter.

Asiegbu’s goal earned 335 voters on the NFF website, followed by Newman who polled 209 while Odey had 187.

From the Twitter votes, Odey was far ahead with 184 of the 361 while Asiegbu had 90 and Newman picked 87.

Asiegbu polled a cumulative 425 votes to edge Odey (371) and Newman (296).

The Abia Warriors player becomes the 6th Wonder Goal winner.

Previous winners are Ayo Saka (Rivers United), Ubong Friday (Akwa United), Salefu Ochowechi (Remo Stars), Pascal Seka (FC IfeanyiUbah) and Ahmed Usman of Wikki Tourists.

In usual practice, half of the N150,000 prize money will be donated to charity.
