Tammy Abraham and Olarenwaju Kayode lead the attack in TheCable’s team of the week. 

Also named in the XI are William Troost-Ekong, Taye Taiwo, Afeez Aremu, Ebere Eze and Moses Simon.

The team is set up in a 3-5-2 formation.

Easily the Man of the Match making a handful of brilliant saves from several of the opposition forwards. Authoritative.

Semi Ajayi [West Brom]

The former Arsenal defender used all his experience and tradecraft to help West Brom get a draw away from home. Commanding.

William Troost-Ekong [Udinese]

With the help of other defenders, he never allowed AC Milan forwards any room and was a rock at the heart of the defence, making several crucial tackles and even started off a couple of attacks. Decisive.

Taye Taiwo [RoPS]

After several dummy runs here was the former Nigerian international that was a stalwart in the Marseille shirt. Nothing fancy just plain good old-fashioned defending at it’s best. Comeback.

Samuel Kalu [Bordeaux]

Set up a well-taken goal with deadly pass. Patrolled the right flank like the well-drilled soldier he is and forced the defenders back throughout. Exhilarating.

Afeez Aremu [Start]

Defensive when needed and led the team like a leader. Advanced upfield in the second half and was rewarded with a fine poacher’s goal. Vital.

Ovie Ejaria [Reading]

A determined display against his old side for the game’s midfield general. Always looking for the ball and controlled the centre of the park throughout. Eventually scored. Powerful.

Moses Simon [Nantes]

An exceptional performance from the ex KAA Gent winger who brought an extra keenness to the Nantes team. Always looking to exploit any ball or mistake, he climaxed his game with a superb strike that zoomed past the bewildered ‘keeper. Revitalising.

Ebere Eze [QPR]

Caused problems with his incisive running and scored with precision. He beat his markers with ease and on one particular occasion effortlessly dribbled past several defenders. Penetrating.

Olarenwaju Kayode [Gaziantep FK]

The 25-year-old did everything and bagged a brace. He constantly probed and pushed defenders into mistakes. Invigorating.

Tammy Abraham [Chelsea]

The 21-year-old stood up to the plate on Saturday and scored a goal either side of the halves. Prepared.
