Roman Abramovich has called on the club legend, Didier Drogba to come help the club.
Chelsea players have not been scoring as they should and as a result, have found themselves one point above relegation zone – conceding 12 goals and conceding five in their last eight games.
Ivorian media, Jeune Afrique reported on Friday that Abramovich called 37 year-old Drogba seeking his help.
The report claimed that Drogba is happy to return to the Stamford Bridge side where he recorded the greater success of his career.
“He’s happy to return to Chelsea. It’s his heart club, even if he felt betrayed by Jose Mourinho , who had not met all obligations to him when he returned to England during the 2014-2015 season , ” a source close to the footballer said
Drogba was at Chelsea from 2004 to 2012 where he won 11 major titles – Four Premier League titles, four FA Cup titles, three League Cups, the UEFA Champions League in 2012.
He once complained about the dressing room after the departure of Mourinho in 2007.
”The damage is big in the dressing room,” Drogba told France Football Magazine that year.
He was also quoted to have said that: “Mourinho’s departure destroys a certain familiarity we had at the club. Many of us used to play first and foremost for the manager. Now we need to forget those feelings and find another source of motivation’’.
The former Ivorian international is expected to join the technical management crew where he is hoped to influence the dressing room.
