Husseini Baba Ahmed, justice of the federal capital territory (FCT) high court, on Thursday compelled the federal government to produce Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA), in court to answer criminal charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The judge suspended the trial for two hours and insisted that it would not commence until Dasuki was brought before him.‎

The former NSA was brought to the court later in compliance with the order amid tight security.

However, the trial could not go on because Dasuki’s lawyers were absent‎.

His lawyers had written a letter to the court informing it of their absence owing to another case before an election petition tribunal in Kogi state in which they were involved.

The court thereafter adjourned the case to Friday.

On Wednesday, Adeniyi Ademola, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, where Dasuki is facing charges for illegal possession of firearms, had also ordered the federal government to produce him in court on February 16, after he did not show up for trial.
