The fourth edition of the ‘Chaingang’ mountain bike (MTB) festival will take place in Abuja, the nation’s capital, on November 22.
In a statement on Tuesday, organisers said the festival will take riders, runners, and hikers deep into Abuja’s rugged mountain terrain for a full day of outdoor competition and community activities.
The Chaingang MTB festival organising committee said this year’s edition, themed “Be Ya Nu Abuja Pe (Let’s Go to Abuja Mountains)”, will feature mountain biking races, a trail run, and a scenic hike.
The committee said the mountain bike race will cover 42 kilometres for men and 35 kilometres for women, navigating steep single tracks, rocky ridgelines, and fast descents.

It added that runners will take on a 20-kilometre trail route marked by quick climbs, shaded gullies, and panoramic views, while hikers will embark on a six-kilometre trek to the Mpape crushed rocks landmark.
There will also be VIP and children’s races at Junior Secondary School, Mpape, which is the designated take-off and finish venue for all categories.
The committee described the terrain as “quintessential Abuja”, adding participants should expect gravelly tracks, red dust climbs and natural rocky obstacles.

The organisers noted that safety marshals, medical teams, and directional signage will be positioned across all routes, adding that the festival aims to promote active outdoor living, trail stewardship, and road safety awareness for cyclists and trail users.
