PIC to hold summit on economic inequality, healthcare access Sept 3

The Policy Innovation Centre (PIC), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has announced that the fourth edition of the gender and inclusion summit will be held in Abuja between September 3 and 4.

The summit, known as GS-25, is expected to bring together over 1,000 participants — both in-person and virtual — to discuss inclusive solutions to some of Nigeria’s most pressing development challenges.

In a statement issued on Monday, Osasuyi Dirisu, executive director of PIC, said the theme for this year′s summit is “New Voices and New Approaches for Accelerating an Inclusive Society”.

Dirisu said discussions will focus on issues such as economic inequality, healthcare access, housing insecurity, education gaps, climate change, and the exclusion of marginalised groups — particularly women, persons with disabilities, and young people.

“This summit is more than a convening. It’s a time to pause, reflect, learn, refuel, and refire. It’s a call to action to reimagine Africa’s development path through equity and inclusion,” the statement reads.

She said participants will include policymakers, civil society leaders, development partners, youth advocates, academics, diplomats, and private sector actors.

The executive director said the summit has grown since its launch in 2022 into a leading African platform for shaping gender-transformative policies and promoting inclusive development using behavioural insights.
