The national executive committee (NEC) of Accord has constituted a committee for the Osun state primary election.
In a communiqué issued after a Friday meeting in Abuja, the party said the committee would supervise the conduct of the primary and ensure a credible process.
According to the communique, the NEC approved the electoral guidelines for the primary election, expressing confidence that the party is well-positioned to win the 2026 election.
It said the party also approved the constitution of a caretaker committee for the Osun state chapter, with Victor Akande as chairman, following the expiration of its leadership’s tenure.

The NEC approved a waiver for members who recently joined the party and desire to contest elections on its platform.
The party constituted women’s and youth directorates at the national, zonal, state, LG, ward, and polling unit levels to facilitate the membership drive and grassroots mobilisation of citizens across the country.
In the spirit of unity, the opposition party lifted the suspension of some members in Osun ahead of the gubernatorial election.

The NEC passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Maxwell Mgbudem as national chairman, stating that there is no faction in the party at any level.
“NEC urged members to remain focused, loyal and patriotic, and not be distracted by the activities of reactionary forces as Accord has been repositioned and strengthened to win future elections in the quest for sustainable democracy in Nigeria,” the communiqué reads.
Speaking during the NEC meeting, Mgbudem said the party is now being discussed nationwide with “admiration and regard”.
“Let me emphasise clearly today that Accord has no faction anywhere, neither at the national nor at the state levels,” he said.

On Wednesday, the party expressed readiness to welcome Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, if he decides to pursue his second term on its platform.
Adeleke resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, citing the party’s national leadership crisis.
The Osun governor has not disclosed the political party he intends to join.
