Atiku Abubakar
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa has criticised Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, over his comments on the recent attack in Wagga Mongoro, Madagali LGA.
The party said Abubakar’s remarks were “insensitive” and a deliberate attempt to politicise the tragedy.
In a statement on Sunday, Mohammed Abdullahi, publicity secretary of APC in Adamawa, said Abubakar’s intervention was “riddled with lies and errors”.
“Atiku once again proved that tragedy, for him, is not a moment of sober reflection but a stage for cheap politics,” Abdullahi said.

“Instead of standing with the grieving persons, he rushed to issue a hollow statement. From his words, it is clear that Atiku is either ignorant of what really transpired or he was plainly mischievous or both.”
The party said Abubakar’s past role in government contributed to the insecurity facing the country.
“Without mincing words, it must be stated that Atiku and the PDP government he once served laid the foundation for the insecurity we are battling today,” the statement reads.

The APC accused the former vice-president of abandoning Adamawa during his time in office.
“When Boko Haram overran Adamawa communities, displaced families, and shut down livelihoods, Atiku was silent,” Abdullahi said.
“Now, when peace is gradually returning under APC leadership, he suddenly finds his voice — not to unite, but to exploit.”
The party said the federal government, under APC, is providing support to security agencies in restoring peace.

“The APC government Atiku wants to discredit at all cost is doing a good job in cleaning the Augean stable,” the statement added.
The party commiserated with victims of the Madagali attack and reaffirmed its commitment to defeating insurgents.
“The people of Adamawa are not deceived,” Abdullahi said.
“They know the difference between genuine solidarity and empty posturing. They know who stood with them in their darkest hours — and who is now cynically dancing on fresh graves for political gain.”
