Adamawa gov appoints Atiku’s son as commissioner

Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa state, has appointed Adamu Atiku, the first son of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, as commissioner.

The governor sent a list of 23 commissioner-nominees to the state house of assembly for screening. This is coming five months after he took the oath of office.

Aminu Iya-Abbas, speaker of the house of assembly, read the list during a plenary session on Wednesday.

The assembly had approved the appointment of 40 special advisers to the governor.

Ibrahim Mijinyawa and Umaru Daware, who both defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP after they resigned as commissioners under the administration of Jibrilla Bindow, former governor of the state, also made the list as commissioner-nominees for Yola north and Fufore local government areas respectively.

Other nominees are Iliya James (Demsa), Dishi Khobe (Numan), Justina Nkom (Lamurde), Wilbina Jackson (Guyuk), Adamu Titus (Shelleng), Mohammed Umar (Madagali), Elijah Tumba (Michika), Dr Ishaya Dabari (Michika), Sunday Mathew (Mubi North), Prof. Isa Abdullahi (Mubi South), Hassan Kaigama (Maiha), Dr Umar Garba (Hong), Lami Patrick (Gombi), Usman Diyajo (Girei), Mustapha Jika (Yola South), Sanusi Faruk (Toungo), Bappa Isa (Ganye), Aloysius Babadoke (Jada) and Shuaibu Audu (Mayo Belwa).

According to Japhet Kefas, house committee chairman on information, no date has been fixed for screening of the commissioner-nominees.
