Rave-making British artiste, Adele, has been named the richest female musician in the United Kingdom (UK).

With her fortune hitting £85 million, the musician placed 30 in Sunday Times’ list of the top 50 music millionaires in the UK and Ireland.

The only female singer with a bigger fortune on the list is Irishwoman Enya at £91 million.

The solo artist, who has established herself as one of the world’s biggest entertainment brands, has achieved several feats over the past few years, the most recent being her dominance at the brit awards, winning four awards – three from her four nominations and a global success award.

“Adele is only 27 so I would see her getting in the main list of the richest 1,000 in a couple of years – she is only £15 to £20 million away now,” Ian Coxon, Sunday Times rich list editor, said.

Adele topped the 2012 Sunday Times Rich List of musicians in the UK under 30 and made the top 10 of Billboard magazine’s ‘Top 40 Money Makers’.

Billboard also announced the same day that Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’ was the biggest crossover hit of the past 25 years.

For the fifth year running, Adele is also ranked top of the Young Music Rich List, covering those aged 30 and under.

With 21 non-consecutive weeks at number 1 in the US, Adele broke the record for the longest number-1 album by a woman in billboard history.

This was formerly held by Whitney Houston’s soundtrack ‘the bodyguard’.

In June 2013, Adele was appointed a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s birthday honours list for services to music, and she received the award from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace on 19 December 2013.

In February 2013, she was assessed as one of the 100 most powerful women in the United Kingdom by Woman’s Hour on BBC radio 4

Adele is now ranked at number 30 in the overall UK and Ireland music millionaires list, above Sir Cliff Richard, Gary Barlow and Kylie Minogue, and up from 43rd place last year.

Her first album in 4 years has sold over 15 million copies and gave her the boost necessary to move up on the list.

Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney topped the overall Sunday Times Rich List of musicians with an estimated £760m fortune.

Sir Paul is worth £30m more than last year, according to the ranking, boosted by his American heiress wife’s £150 million stake in her family’s US trucking business.

It puts him well ahead of his nearest rival on the list, Andrew Lloyd Webber, who is estimated to be worth £715 million.

The Rolling Stones – with combined fortunes of £630 million, up £40 million on 2015, were ranked the wealthiest band in Britain and Ireland, ahead of U2 with a joint fortune of £500 million.
