Ademola Adeleke
Accord party has reaffirmed that Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, remains its gubernatorial candidate in the state, dismissing reports of a parallel primary as a “charade”.
In a statement on Monday, Joseph Omorogbe, national publicity secretary of the party, said the parallel primary was staged by “political jobbers and nomads roaming the democratic space”.
Omorogbe alleged that the purported primary was sponsored by opposition figures unsettled by Adeleke’s emergence as Accord’s flagbearer.
He noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disowned the exercise, declaring it null and void.

According to him, INEC said it was not aware of the “kangaroo primary”, adding that the move was aimed at creating confusion in a state that has remained peaceful since Adeleke assumed office.
“Accord will not dissipate energy responding to frivolities from jokers and political nomads roaming the democratic space in search of elusive greener pastures,” the statement reads.
The party spokesperson said Adeleke remains focused on delivering dividends of democracy to residents of Osun and would not be distracted by what it described as the antics of the opposition.

“He is a compassionate leader, a man of the people, and the only leader citizens trust and follow to Accord,” Omorogbe said.
He said Accord also welcomed new members who recently joined the party, as well as those who have indicated interest in doing so.
Omorogbe said the party is “big enough to accommodate millions of Nigerians who desire good governance and a brighter future”.
