South Africa earned their first win in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 4-0 drubbing of Namibia in their Group E encounter at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo on Sunday.

Thembo Zwane scored a brace as the Bafana Bafana took a three-goal lead at half-time to exhibit their superiority in the South African derby.

Percy Tau and Thapelo Maseko were the other scorers on the night South Africa took their first points in Ivory Coast.

South Africa had lost to Mali in the opener while Namibia shocked Tunisia.

Zwane blasted a shot into the roof of the net from a cutback by Thapelo Morena with the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

He then completed his brace five minutes before half-time with a well-taken strike to the far post after evading a defender.

Maseko, on for Zwane, sealed South Africa’s dominant win on 75 minutes when he finished off a lofted pass from deep with aplomb.

South Africa’s victory continued their 100% winning record against Namibia at AFCON. Hugo Broos’ side will face Tunisia in the last group match to find a route to the knockout phase.

Elsewhere, Morocco were held to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo in a feisty encounter that boiled over at full-time. Achraf Hakimi’s fourth-minute goal was cancelled by Silas Mvumpa on 76 minutes. Cedric Bakambu had missed a first half penalty for DR Congo. Ten-man Zambia also scored an 88th-minute equalizer to salvage a draw against Tanzania.
