The much talked about 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semifinals between Nigeria and Algeria will take place at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.

Despite talks of favourite tag on the Fennecs, Dijon midfielder Mehdi Abeid believes the Super Eagles have quality players in their fold.

In a pre-match press conference attended by TheCable, the hardworking enforcer analysed what he expects from the Super Eagles in Cairo.

“They have quality players in their team,” the former Newcastle United star said.

“We also know our abilities. We will do our best to play very well against the Super Eagles.”

An 11-time Algeria international, Abeid has an interesting CV. Starting his career at French side RC Lens, Newcastle signed him in 2011 and he eventually made 21 senior appearances for the Toon.

He went on loan to Scottish Premiership side St. Johnstone in 2013.

Then in 2015, he joined Greek giants Panathinaikos before completing a permanent move.

He clocked up 72 appearances, scoring 14 goals and creating six more, helping them win the Greek Cup before joining Dijon in the summer of 2016.
