The Nigerian boxing team at the 11th African Games, in Congo-Brazzaville, has placed second on the medals table behind Algeria in the boxing event.

Team Nigeria won four gold and two silver medals while Algeria won five gold and silver medals.

It is an improvement on the team’s performance at the last Games held in Maputo, Mozambique in 2011 where they placed sixth with three silver medals and a bronze medal.

Olufemi Oyeleye defeated Nsango Njikam of Cameroon to win the gold in the welterweight category while Efe Ajagba defeated Keddy Angnes in the Super heavyweight for the gold medal.
