Leonard Eze Onwuka, a fast-rising Nigerian Afropop artiste popularly known as ‘LB’, says the music industry in the country is now creating room for diversity.

Speaking on Tuesday, in Lagos, on what the future holds for the music industry, the singer said the sector has given more opportunities to women to showcase their talents.

“The Nigerian industry has started appreciating diversity. We have more female songwriters and artistes today, and it’s amazing to see,” he said.

“It’s amazing to see that the industry has made room for women. There is a lot to come, and I’m excited to be part of it.”

The Abia-born songwriter said he is also particularly excited that the industry now creates avenues for women to grow “as we now have female songwriters and artists toping the charts”.

LB said he has strong faith that the Nigerian music industry will continue to grow rapidly since its adoption of new ways to stand the test of time.

The Afropop singer, songwriter and sound engineer also advised up-and-coming artistes to strive and find their feet in the industry.

“Do you, be you. Filter the noise, and don’t listen to them. Build a strong team, be business oriented and gain a lot of knowledge about the industry,” LB said.

“Even if you’re not big, be self-aware of the industry and its mechanics. Be patient and it will work out. Raise the beat up.”
