Two days after suicide bombers struck in Chibok, Borno state, a suicide bomber attacked a market in the Gombi area of Adamawa state.

A witness told BBC that he saw at least eight dead bodies, after the blast which happened at 12:00pm.

Haruna Furo, executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the incident but said the agency was trying to get details of casualties.

He also said it was unclear whether the blast was caused by a suicide bomber or the bomb was planted.

A source at Gombi market, who simply identified himself as Umar, told NAN that the incident occurred at the grains section of the market and that it was a suicide mission by a boy.

“It is a young boy that carried out the mission”, Umar said.

Othman Abubakar, spokesman of the Adamawa state police command, said four persons, including the suicide bomber died, while 17 others were injured.

Gombi is among the towns which security forces recaptured from Boko Haram in 2014.
