October 5, 2014 has been set as the launch date for popular reality TV show, Big Brother Africa, which suffered a set back due to an unprecedented fire outbreak on September 2.

The incident scuppered the planned September 7 launch of the show, and its organisers, M-Net and Endemol SA, had to “search frantically” for another house, finally finding one, still in Johannesburg.

“M-Net and Endemol SA are delighted to confirm that a new Big Brother house has been found in Johannesburg, South Africa following the devastating fire that demolished the original house on September 2,” they said in a statement on Friday.

“The search was concluded after exploring all possible options both locally and internationally, for a suitable venue to produce the 9th season of Africa’s biggest reality show.

The producers of the show also thanked fans “far and wide for all the patience and continuous support over the past few days,” and assured them that the season would reward them with all the excitement and thrills it is known for.
