Former UEFA president, Michel Platini, has vowed to return to football following his clearance from corruption allegations by a Swiss court.

Platini, 62, who was also FIFA’s vice president before his suspension in 2015 for “illegal” payments received from disgraced former FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, stated that the decision was “the end of a long nightmare for my family and those close to me.”

It was confirmed by Swiss federal prosecutors that the legendary former France International will not be charged after investigation into possible financial wrongdoing over receipt of a $2 million payment as uncontracted back salary from Blatter’s FIFA in in 2011.

The investigation denied Platini the chance to run for the FIFA presidency in 2016, while he was also removed as UEFA president.

Platini, who was highly touted to replace Blatter as president of world football’s governing body says he will come back into administration at a yet-to-be-determined time.

“I will come back: where, when, how? It’s too early to say. But I will come back into football. Because football is my life and I deny anyone the right to deprive me of my life,” the 1984 European Championships winner declared.

Platini, who has always denied any wrongdoing but was expected to serve his ban till October 2019, had tried valiantly to have his suspension overturned ever since.

He took his case up to the Court of Arbitration for Sport but it was unsuccessful, until this latest decision not to prosecute him absolved him of any wrongdoing.
