Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has again called for Leah Sharibu’s release from captivity.

Sharibu was kidnapped alongside 111 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents from Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state, on February 19, 2018.

The girls were subsequently released, except five who reportedly died in captivity, but she was held back for “refusing to renounce her faith”.

In a statement on Friday, Adeboye urged all RCCG pastors and all well-meaning persons across the world to intensify prayers and efforts towards Sharibu’s release.

He also charged every parent and people of goodwill all over the world to use whatever influence they have to ensure that Leah Sharibu as well as other children in captivity are released without any further delay.

In August 2018, TheCable obtained a recording of Sharibu begging the president to come to her rescue and reunite her with her family.

The last major update about Sharibu’s condition was given by Ahmad Salkida, a journalist with access to the insurgents, who said she is now a mother, but that he was yet to know the gender of the baby.

Since the Dapchi kidnap, there has been two other incidents where students were kidnapped from their hostels, the latest being students from Government Science College, Kagara in Niger state.

They have not been released.
