The electricity distribution companies (DisCos) in the country had notified their respective customers of the development on social media.

“Power supply will be restored gradually to various parts of the network as soon as the Grid is stabilized.”

Kaduna Electric also assured customers in its franchise areas that power supply will be restored as soon as the grip is energised.

“We sincerely apologise for the power outage in our franchise states which is due to a system collapse from the national grid. Supply shall be restored as soon as the grid is back up. We regret any inconvenience this may cause all our customers,” Kaduna Electric wrote.

Eko Electricity Distribution Company posted on its Facebook page, “Dear valued customer, we regret to inform you of a system collapse on the national grid that’s causing outages across our network. We are working with our TCN partners to restore supply as soon as possible.”

Jos DisCo also posted similar message on its social media page.

Some DisCos later resumed electricity supply around 7pm following restoration of power to the grid.

The grid collapsed in FebruaryMay and July leading to a blackout across the country.

Amid lack of a spinning reserve, the grid often records partial or total collapses which render most homes in darkness.

A spinning reserve is an excess capacity that compensates for electricity shortages when the grid fluctuates.
