Real Madrid defeated Gremio 1-0 to claim the Club World Cup trophy for the second successive year.

The Spanish and Brazilian teams locked horns in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Zinedine Zidane’s charges were far superior and should have won by a more flattering goal margin against a Gremio side who failed to have a shot on target.

Real Madrid took the lead through a set piece thumped in by Cristiano Ronaldo in the 53rd minute of the game.

It went through a jumping wall, skidded off the surface, and beat a despairing Marcelo Grohe.

Madrid have now won their fifth trophy in 2017.
