AGCOMS International Trading Company, a trade facilitation and agricultural mechanisation firm, says Nigeria’s agricultural growth is looking positive due to the federal government’s focus on tractor usage.
Chijioke Okoli, the company’s chief executive officer (CEO), spoke at this year’s NAMPO Harvest Day, an agricultural expo held recently in South Africa.
In a statement on Saturday, AGCOMS said the four-day event, widely regarded as the “most influential” agricultural exhibition in the southern hemisphere, hosted about 87,191 visitors and featured over 750 exhibitors from around the world.
According to the statement, the company — an authorised dealer of John Deere agricultural equipment — was represented by a 10-member delegation, led by Okoli.

Speaking at the event, the CEO said it is important for the world to know that while Nigeria’s mechanisation levels remain low, there is growing momentum for change.
“It’s vital for the world to know that, despite Nigeria’s historic current low mechanisation level, the prospects of the country are bright because of the strong focus of the Tinubu administration on increasing tractor usage in the country. So we have every reason to be optimistic,” he said.

The AGCOMS added that it would continue to empower its workforce, train professionals, and introduce best-in-class solutions to Nigerian farmers as part of its commitment to national development.
The company said a major highlight of the event was the launch of the John Deere 9RX 830 hp tractor.
The organisation said its participation at NAMPO underscores its commitment to driving mechanisation in line with Nigeria’s food security goals, adding that it is well positioned to lead the shift from manual to modern farming through key partnerships.
