The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has commended President Bola Tinubu for suspending the 4 percent free on board (FOB) levy on imported goods.
In a statement on Tuesday signed by Abdulmunaf Sarina, its president, and Allen Onyema, its vice-president, AON said the suspension demonstrates Tinubu’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and promoting sustainable economic growth.
The body also commended Wale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, for his leadership and responsiveness to the concerns of industry stakeholders.
AON noted that Edun’s decision demonstrated a firm commitment to executing the president’s mandate with diligence, sensitivity, and fairness across all sectors of the economy.

According to the statement, the implementation of the levy would have severely affected Nigerian airlines — increasing operational costs and further straining an industry already grappling with multiple challenges.
“This bold and thoughtful intervention will safeguard aviation, protect jobs, reduce inflationary pressures, and keep Nigeria competitive in the global business environment,” the statement reads.
AON reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the government to strengthen aviation and contribute to Tinubu’s vision for economic growth and national development.
