Aisha Buhari has been making headlines for controversial reasons of late, and this may not go away anytime soon, as she referred to Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, as a “mad dog” on Tuesday.

In series of messages on her official Twitter handle, the wife of the president, said she has the energy to face the “unchained dog”.

Expectedly, the tweets generated a storm.

Mrs Buhari moved from her pre-election account @ABuhari to @AishaMBuhari and was verified after her husband’s victory.

She has repeatedly used the account to tweet messages to Nigerians.

The tweets were later deleted.

In an attempt to get back to the president after his account was frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Fayose alleged that Aisha was involved in the infamous Halliburton scam.

Checks by TheCable showed that the Aisha Buhari in the scam is not the president’s wife.

The last time the wife of a sitting president attacked a prominent figure was during the buildup to the 2015 general election.

Patience Jonathan, wife of the immediate past president, had alleged that the brain of her husband’s opponent was dead.

This attracted so much criticisms, and many believed that her unguarded remarks during the electioneering campaign, contributed to the poor outing of her husband in the election.
