The executive council of the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA) says it will ensure justice for residents who have been victims of extrajudicial killing.

TheCable had reported that two residents of the area — Gafaru Buraimoh and Bolanle Raheem — have been killed within one month in separate incidents involving police officers.

Buraimoh, a man in his 30s, was said to have been hit by a stray bullet around 10pm on December 6 in Ajah, when police officers attached to Ajiwe station in the area were on a raid to arrest sellers of black market petrol.

Raheem, who was pregnant at the time of her death, was shot in the Ajah area on December 25, and Drambi Vandi, an officer also attached to the Ajiwe station, has been linked to the incident.

During a condolence visit to the victims’ families on Friday, Olorogun Emadoye, LERSA president, said LERSA will ensure that extrajudicial killings of residents of the area do not happen again.

The association also prayed for the families of the victims.

Meanwhile, Vandi has been remanded at the Ikoyi correctional centre after he was arraigned in court on Friday.
