Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo have been nominated for the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) women’s player of the year award.
The Super Falcons duo are named in the 10-player list of nominees released by CAF on Friday.
Ajibade was voted woman of the match in three of the Falcons’ six games en route to winning Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title. She was also named the best player in the competition.
Okoronkwo scored two goals and provided four assists throughout the tourney. She was also named the woman of the match in the final, where she scored and provided an assist.

Other footballers on the nominees’ list include the Zambian duo of Barbara Banda and Racheal Kundananji, as well as Tabitha Chawinga and Temwa Chawinga from Malawi.
The rest are Morocco’s Sanaa Mssoudy and Ghizlane Chebbak, Portia Boakye of Ghana and Mame Diop of Senegal.
Chiamaka Nnadozie is nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Year prize. The 24-year-old won the award for two consecutive years.
Two Nigerian sides are nominated for the national team of the award. The Super Falcons and the Flamingos make the shortlist.
Nigeria’s Moshood Shakirat is nominated for the women’s Best Young Player prize.
Bankole Olowookere of the Falmingos and Justine Madu of Falcons are also named contenders for the women’s best coach prize.

The 2025 CAF award gala will be held in Marrakech, Morocco. The date of the ceremony is yet to be announced.
