Akeredolu constitutes fund committee for COVID-19

Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state, has constituted a committee for Coronavirus Response Fund to mobilise resources to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

The committee was set up barely 24 hours after the palliatives committee earlier set up by the governor, look at ways of assisting the citizens especially in the area of food and minor household items to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Donald Ojogo, commissioner for information, said the aim of the committee is to help mobilise funds, in cash or kind, ensure effective management and transparent utilisation of the resources.

He highlighted the terms of reference of the committee to recommend and advise the government on funding strategies, manage funds and direct funding campaign.

According to him, the committee will identify, contact effective funding channels and sources as well as carry out any other activities for the success of the above mentioned.

“The Response Fund Committee will work closely with the State Inter-ministerial Committee and is expected to begin work immediately until the resolution of the pandemic is achieved,” he said.

“It will equally provide weekly reports and submit a concrete completion report at the end of its activities.

The committee has Kayode Falowo as chairman and Akin Odumakin, vice-chairman. While Cecilia Akintomide, Segun Fagboyegun and Adesegun Fatusi would serve as members.
