Iyiola Omisore, national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says he is optimistic that Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, will soon return to his duties.

NAN quoted Omisore as speaking on Friday when he paid a visit to Lucky Ayedatiwa, acting governor of the Ondo, in Akure, the state’s capital.

Ade Adetimehin, chairman of APC in Ondo; Oladunni Odu, secretary to the state government (SSG); commissioners, and members of the house of assembly were all present to welcome Omisore.

Akeredolu had embarked on a 21-day leave on June 7 and was expected to return on July 6.

However, he wrote to the state house of assembly, extending his medical leave.

Speaking during the visit, Omisore said the leadership of the party is praying for Akeredolu’s recovery.

“Mr chairman only urged people to pray for the quick recovery of your governor; not on account of being incapacitated,” Omisore said.

“Our visit, therefore, is to reinforce the position of the national secretariat that we only prayed for the quick recovery of Akeredolu and not otherwise.”

On his part, the acting governor thanked Omisore’s delegation for the visit.

The Ondo APC chairman debunked claims that the party in the state is in crisis, adding that they are still relishing the victory the party secured during the general election.

TheCable had reported that Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the APC, said Akeredolu is hospitalised and in a state of “extreme incapacity”.

Adamu spoke at a meeting with chairmen of the APC across the country.
