Akpabio appoints PDP senator Konbowei as chair of south-south development commission committee

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has named Benson Konbowei, senator representing Bayelsa central, as chairman of the committee on the South-South Development Commission (SSDC).

Konbowei is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Asuquo Ekpeyong, senator representing Cross River south, is named as the vice-chairman of the committee.

Other members include Onowakpo Joel from Delta south, Benson Agadaga from Bayelsa east, Neda Imasuen from Edo south and Allwell Onyesoh from Rivers east.

Also on the committee are Samson Ekong from Akwa Ibom south, Samaila Kaila from Bauchi north, Mustapha Musa from Yobe east, Patrick Ndubueze from Imo north, Idiat  Adebule from Lagos west and Mustapha Saliu from Kwara central.

The committee is expected to handle legislative matters related to the SSDC when it becomes operational.

Konbowei, a former speaker of the Bayelsa house of assembly, also served as the secretary to the state government before his election to the senate in 2023.
