Godswill Akpabio, senate minority leader and former governor of Akwa Ibom state, has returned to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to answer questions on allegations of fraud.
Leo Ekpenyong, an Abuja-based lawyer, had petitio‎ned the anti-graft agency, alleging that Akpabio stole over N100 billion of Akwa Ibom funds while he was governor from 2007 to 2014.
On Friday, the former governor honoured the invitation of the EFCC, and was‎ grilled for several hours. He was released the same day.
On Saturday, he confirmed on Twitter that he was going back to the EFCC to look at the petition against him.
“I’m going back to EFCC now at exactly 11.25am this morning to go and look at the petition written against me by the young lawyer,” Akpabio said.
“I, GodsWill Akpabio have nothing to hide. As a law-abiding citizen, it is my duty to submit myself to the law for scrutiny at all times.”
