Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday, led a delegation of senators to condole with the family of Okechukwu Ezea, the lawmaker who died on November 18.
Ezea, the senator representing Enugu north, died at 62 at a private hospital in Lagos after a brief illness.
The senate had earlier adjourned the plenary to enable members to visit the Abuja residence of the late lawmaker.
Akpabio said the visit was to identify with the family in their moment of grief and to assure them that they were not alone in mourning their late father.

“It is not always a very good experience to stay with a colleague for over two years, see each other daily, see him more than family members, and then all of a sudden he vanishes just like that,” the senate president said.
“We are gathered here in our numbers to commiserate with your family and to let you know that you are not alone in mourning your late husband, father, brother and uncle, distinguished Senator Ezea.”
He said the late senator related with his colleagues with dignity and respect.

“You can imagine the shock when we heard of his demise because there was never a time he walked into the chamber and showed that he was sick in any form. But the news came suddenly that he had passed on.”
Responding, Jideofor Ezea, son of the late legislator, thanked Akpabio and the delegation for the visit.
He said the family would not forget the gesture, adding that the lawmakers’ words of encouragement and prayers had brought them comfort.
