Godswill Akpabio, senate minority leader, has expressed gratitude to God for surviving a recent road accident in Abuja.

Akpabio’s car collided with a vehicle belonging to the United States embassy at Bolingo junction in the federal capital territory last Monday.

He was immediately rushed to the national hospital in Abuja and flown to the United Kingdom a few days later.

In a statement issued in London and personally signed by him, the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom state “expressed appreciation to his family members, traditional and religious leaders, who have been calling on a daily basis to inquire about his well being”.

“The former governor specifically thanked President Muhamadu Buhari, Vice-President  Yemi Osinbajo, senate president Bukola Saraki, speaker of the house of representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, his successor, Udom Emmanuel, his colleagues in the national assembly and former president, Goodluck Jonathan, for their concern and expression of love when the accident occurred,” the statement read.

Akpabio advised politicians to desist from politicising disasters and tragedies and work towards the unity and progress of the country.
