Some Super Eagles players have made our team of the week due to their outstanding performance in a weekend of Premier League goal scoring breaking record.

The Golden Eaglets exciting comeback at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil and some fabulous goals scored by Nigerian players across the globe also made TheCable’s team of the week.

Daniel Akpeyi (Kaizer Chiefs)

The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper was instrumental in their 2-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns. He denied Jose Ali Meza twice and pulled off a magnificent save to deny Mauricio Affonso a goal. He was completely flawless.

Oluwatemilehin Adeniyi (Golden Eaglets)

The Golden Eaglets defender was energetic. He bombarded the right flank and caused Hungary a lot of problems as well. He scored for the Nigeria U17 side.

Shehu Abdullahi (Bursaspor)

The Super Eagles defender was phenomenal at the back. He took over the heart of the Bursaspor defence and defended exhaustively. He was the only “silver lining” for Bursaspor.

Jamilu Collins (Paderborn)

Jamilu Collins was very influential throughout the game on Saturday and one of his crosses almost came close to producing a goal for Paderborn. He was stable at left back.

Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City)

He was rock solid at the middle of the park. The Saints couldn’t find a way to get past him. The Nigeria international put up an inspirational performance as the Foxes won 9-0 against Southampton.

Samson Tijani (Golden Eaglets)

Samson Tijani was very good at the heart of the Golden Eaglets midfield. He organised the game and his tackles were perfect. The Eaglets skipper also bagged a brace against Hungary.

Michael Babatunde (Wydad Casablanca)

The Nigeria international is improving from strength to strength. He has been hardworking, committed and passionate, working for Wydad Casablanca right from defence to attack. Hard to imagine a Wydad team without Baba.

Babajide David (Rosenborg)

Absolutely magnificent. Outpaced Molde defenders for most of the game. Babajide David was brilliant when he attacked and incredible when he defended. He was energetic as he patrolled up and down the field. The utility player also found the back of the net.

Victor Mbaoma (Enyimba)

Victor Mbaoma scored an absolute effort. The Enyimba player troubled TS Galaxy defenders. He put up a formidable performance.

Simy Nwankwo (Crotone)

The Nigeria international, who netted a brace, was too much for the Venezia defence to handle. Lightning pace, skillful, agile and beautiful to watch.

Daniel Chima (Heilongjiang Lava Spring)

Daniel Chima scored a double for Heilongjiang Lava Spring who defeated Guangdong Huanan 3-2. A special moment for Chima as his brace accounted to 15 goals in the current season.

Manu Garba (Golden Eaglets) – Manager

Yet again, Manu Garba proves a point. An excellent manager who brings something out of nothing for the Golden Eaglets. His tactics were spot on as Eaglets fought back to beat Hungary 4-2 on Saturday night.
