Akpeyi, Eagles goalkeeper, earns contract extension with Kaizer Chiefs

Daniel Akpeyi, Super Eagles goalkeeper, has signed a two year contract extension with Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa’s Absa premiership side.

Akpeyi, who joined Chiefs duirng the 2019 January transfer window on a one-year deal, will stay till 2022.

After showcasing an impressive performance at the club, he became Kaizer Chiefs’ first choice after Khune Itumeleng suffered an injury that kept him on the sideline for long.

The Amakhosi side took to its Twitter page to announce the 33-year old contract extension on Wednesday.

“We are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi who joined Chiefs in January 2019 has earned himself a two-year contract extension to June 2022,” it wrote

Akpeyi has featured in 18 games in all competitions for Chiefs in the 2019-20 season, making 16 league appearances and 2 in the Telkom Knockout Cup.

It is believed that Chiefs value their Nigerian goalkeeper at €700,000, making him the sixth highest in the club.
