Akpeyi, Saka, Osimhen… TheCable’s team of the week
With several top performances over the weekend, TheCable selects the best Nigerian XI.
This week’s team is deployed in a 4-3-3 formation. Let us know your thoughts!
Daniel Akpeyi – Kaizer Chiefs
Bidvest Wits created enough chances but Akpeyi had a game of his life, making a plethora of saves before injury forced him off.
Godswill Ekpolo – Haecken
Defensively sound throughout the game. He made three excellent clearances.
Brian Idowu – Khimki
A fine display from the defender against Volvograd who was peerless.
Kenneth Omeruo – Leganes
He impressed in the friendly against Eibar. Solid defensively and also opened the scoring with a great header.
Tyrone Ebuehi – Twente
The wing-back had a game for Twente. Knew how to get into the right positions.
Samson Tijani – TSV Hartberg
Made things tick in midfield for TSV Hartberg who humiliated Dornbirner 7-0.
Bukayo Saka – Arsenal
He impressed again with his passing range and vision, and assisted Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s goal.
Eberechi Eze – Crystal Palace
The midfielder had a great game. He made some dangerous runs and provided great crosses too.
Samuel Chukwueze – Villarreal
Showed great physical strength and demonstrated an excellent work ethic. Scored a goal with an excellent strike.
Josh Maja – Bordeaux
Made the difference with a first half goal as Bordeaux humbled Angers 2-0.
Victor Osimhen – Napoli
The former Wolfsburg and Lille striker only played in the first half, but he did more than enough damage, scoring trice in the win against L’Aquila.
