Al Ahly SC have defeated Kaizer Cheifs 3-0 to emerge the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League winner.

The Egyptian team completely overpowered Chiefs, who made their debut in the competition’s final.

The final, which was held on Saturday at the Complexe Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, was keenly contested until Chiefs were reduced to 10 men just before half time.

Happy Mashiane was given his marching orders for his late tackle on Akram Tawfik.

Then the goals came rushing in, and Nigeria’s Daniel Akpeyi, who had kept clean sheets in all his appearances in the competition this season, could do little to stop the onslaught.

Goals from Mohamed Sherif, Mohamed Magdi Afsha and Amr El Solia were enough for Al Ahly to retain the title they won last year.

The triumph is a record-extending 10 CAF CL title for the Egyptian powerhouse.

With the victory, Piston Mosimane became the first African coach to win the title three times.

The South African tactician had won it with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 and Al Ahly last season.

It was a cameo appearance for Nigeria’s Junior Ajayi, who only came on for the champions in the 90th minute to replace Mohamed Sherif.
