Umaru Al-Makura, governor of Nasarawa state has appointed Yakubu Lamai as his new chief press secretary following a minor cabinet reshuffle.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Zainab Ahmed, secretary to the state government, and made available to NAN on Tuesday in Lafia.

According to the statement, Al-Makura also reassigned commissioners to oversee some ministries following the sack of eight commissioners last month.

Hussaini Abubakar, commissioner for finance and economic development, has been moved to the ministry of education, science and technology.

Sonny Agassi, commissioner for lands and urban development, will oversee ministry of agriculture and water resources as well as ministry of environment and natural resources.

Emmanuel Brass-Yaji, commissioner of commerce, industry and cooperative is to oversee the ministry of youths and sports development.

Mohammed Dan-Azumi, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, is to oversee the ministry of finance and economic development.

Mohammed Wada of works, housing and transport ministry is to take charge of the ministry of rural and community development.

Hamza Elayo, commissioner for information and ethical reorientation, has been assigned to the ministry of culture and tourism as well as the state planning commission.

All the appointments are with immediate effect.

Al-Makura, had on September 21, relieved eight commissioners and five of his aides of their appointment without giving reasons for the action.
